KTLA Channel 5 News Covers William Shatner Hollywood Charity Horse Show at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center

On June 1st, 2024, a vibrant Saturday morning, KTLA Channel 5 News brought the excitement of the 35th William Shatner Hollywood Charity Horse Show into the homes of their viewers, with three engaging segments throughout the morning. Held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, the event was a celebration of philanthropy, community, and equestrian passion. 

The first segment showcased the bustling atmosphere of the event, filled with families, spectators, and horse enthusiasts. The Los Angeles Equestrian Center came alive with various equestrian performances, auctions, and live entertainment, creating a perfect day out for everyone.

In the second segment, KTLA featured Jennie Nevin, the Executive Director of Business Development & Communications at LAEC. She extended heartfelt thanks to William Shatner for his relentless charity work and unwavering support for the equestrian community. She also highlighted his environmental advocacy through his song and album "So Fragile, So Blue". Jennie praised Mr. Shatner for being the inaugural donor to the LAEC’s Friends of the Park Campaign through the LA Parks Foundation. This campaign is dedicated to keeping the Los Angeles Equestrian Center green and thriving for future generations.

The final segment featured Scott “Movie” Mantz mounting a horse for the first time and brought attention to Mr. Shatner’s fans and notable attendees who graced the event with their presence. Among them were Jimmy Kim, General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, Brenda Aguirre, Assistant General Manager of the same department, along with ASM Global Executives, SVP Global Growth Arich Berghammer and Chief Marketing Officer Alex Merchan. The LAEC Executive Team, including General Manager Leigh Anne Claywell and Executive Director of Equestrian Operations Kaelya Sommer, alongside dedicated LAEC staff members, were also present, underscoring the collective effort in making the event a success.

This year's Hollywood Charity Horse Show not only highlighted the equestrian skills and community spirit but also the deep-rooted commitment to philanthropy and environmental sustainability championed by none other than William Shatner. The event was a testament to the value of the Los Angeles Parks and LA Equestrian Center, the power of community collaboration, and the impact of sustained charitable efforts.
