Glad to Be Here! - A Dream of Living in Los Angeles

An article by Los Angeles Equestrian Center General Manager, Leigh Anne Claywell

Like the CA Blue Angels team says after each flight, "Glad to Be Here!"

For a good part of my life, it has been my dream to live in LA. I've been a Dodgers and Lakers fan as long as I can remember, as well as a lifelong Disney nerd. Now, I get to live that LA dream and take on the job of ASM General Manager for the iconic Los Angeles Equestrian Center as it leaps into a new era.

When I was a kid, the Kentucky Horse Park opened and introduced me to so much more of the horse world than I knew existed. Their Visitor Center film, "Thou Shalt Fly Without Wings," was amazing, and it inspired an even greater love of the horse in me. It uplifts me with gratitude and appreciation for the ability to work with and serve horses and the equestrian community. The title was inspired by the quote below, and that quote, and the feeling I had when I first saw that movie, will stay with me forever:

"When God created the horse he said to the magnificent creature: I have made thee as no other. All the treasures of the earth lie between thy eyes. Thou shalt carry my friends upon thy back. Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me. And thou fly without wings, and conquer without sword. Oh, horse."

Thank you for welcoming me and our ASM Global staff to the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. We look forward to working with you as we move toward the future.

-Leigh Anne
